Theater Productions:
Beijing Zhengdian Tengfei Culture Development Co., Ltd. has purchased the works of well-known French playwrights and of plays from the American Broadway award-winning original repertoire using its own international cultural exchange channels. We invested, for example, in producing "Riverside Drive" [2015] by the famous American director-playwright Woody Allen, which became a classic of small-theater drama. We also invested in producing the adaptation of the popular British stage comedy "Happy Dinner" [2016], and we subsequently used the Poly Theatre Group’s theaters to conduct a successful national tour. The play was also selected for the 3rd Beijing Comedy Week and was performed in the Renmin Capital Theater. This also became the first Chinese theater production introduced in Japan by the Japan-China Drama Exchange Association. We cooperated with Shanghai Dramatic Art Center and Shanghai Mousetrap Studio to produce the Beijing version of Agatha Christie’s classic suspense drama “And Then There Were None” [2018] at the Poly Theatre. It is also scheduled to be staged at the National Grand Theatre.
In Beijing, we produced a performance of the highly praised drama "Jiang Gong's Face" [2018] which was written for the 100th anniversary of Nanjing University in 2012. We produced the performance in China of the world-class Japanese ocarina player Zong Jilang, "Landscape of a Hometown: A Zong Jilang Ocarina Concert" [2016]. We produced China's first football-themed stage play “A Hat Trick” [2015], the urban love-themed stage drama "So Good" [2013], the emotional drama "The Secret of Xia Nai" [2015] and "Immediately Searching for Spring Liu Society" [2017]. In collaboration with the Beijing People’s Theater production team, we created another series of original plays, based on a number of contemporary classics “Extraordinary Moments” [2010], "Men from Mars, Women from Venus" [2011], "Society" [2010], "Navigation" [2009], and others.
In the next three years, the company plans to produce the original musicals "Fantasy" and "Golden Age" and the drama "Glory Road." We are inviting a well-known playwright to create versions of "Liu Sanjie," "Supreme Dancer," and other classic Chinese plays.
Currently, we are collaborating with internationally renowned stage and television director Philip Godawa (whose credits include "Phantom of the Opera," "Chicago," "Lion King") to produce the first Chinese stage version of the world classic, Jane Austen’s "Pride and Prejudice." It will be premiered in December 2019 at the Beijing Poly Theater and will then do a national tour, and we are in the development stages of creating a musical, based on the same text.
Beijing Zhengdian Tengfei Culture Development Co., Ltd. has produced performances in the National Grand Theatre, Beijing People’s Art Theatre, Ju Yin Theater, Capital Theater, Poly Theatre, Beijing Xi Theatre, OCT Grand Theatre, Shanghai Majestic Theatre, Shanghai Oriental Concert Hall, etc. And through our performances in major universities, we have established good cooperative relations with them.
